Promoting a Stronger Sunset District
Sunset United Neighbors (SUN) is a neighborhood organization made up of Sunset District residents in District 4 (Central Sunset, Outer Sunset, Parkside, Outer Parkside, and Pine Lake Park.)
We're simply a collection of neighbors here to make civic action easy & work on solutions to SF's problems. The issues we care about most in our community include Public Safety/Crime Reduction, Mental Health/Street Drug Addiction, Homelessness, GG Park Slow Streets/Closure of JFK Drive, Small Business Support, and Government Accountability. These issues go beyond political beliefs and affect all of us on a daily basis.
We’re tired of talking about change - we’re here to implement it.
What Does SUN Stand For?
Sunset United Neighbors (SUN) is a new movement forming with other residents from nearby neighborhoods in District 4 (Central Sunset, Outer Sunset, Parkside, Outer Parkside, and Pine Lake Park.) Even if you don’t live in D4 today, but live close enough, we hope you’ll still consider joining forces.
There are no dues with SUN and you can be involved as much or as little as you want! We're a collection of neighbors here to work on solutions to SF's problems!! We'll make civic action easy to engage in. The issues SUN cares about most in our community include Public Safety/Crime Reduction, Mental Health/Street Drug Addiction, Homelessness, GG Park Slow Streets/Closure of JFK Drive, Small Business Support, and Government Accountability. These issues go beyond ideology and affect all of us on a daily basis.
SAFETY/NEIGHBORHOOD CRIME REDUCTION
We believe that crime is problematic in the Sunset and San Francisco and support both criminal justice & local police reform. We aim to use local neighborly engagement as a tool to increase local safety and hold individuals responsible for the crimes they commit.
SMALL BUSINESS
We want to make it easier for small businesses to open and operate in the Sunset. Our goal is to support the success of our local businesses and help them to flourish.
GOVERNMENT ACCOUNTABILITY
We believe in holding elected government officials accountable for each neighborhood they represent. Our goal is that elected government officials from the Sunset are not only held responsible for making positive changes in our local community, but also held accountable to serve as balanced, informed spokespeople and trusted sources of reliable information throughout the whole city.
MENTAL HEALTH/ OPEN-AIR DRUG MARKET
We encourage increased resources for addiction treatment services arrest and prosecution for drug dealers. SUN also supports combatting street camping by expanding access to treatment and mental health resources, criminalizing drug dealing, as well as re-establishing public housing contingent on sobriety.

Are you deeply concerned about the state of San Francisco? So many good people have moved out and our government seems to have given up — petty thefts, violent crimes, homelessness, deteriorating streets, open-air drug use — all seem to be ignored.
BUT there is HOPE - a movement is afoot, bringing solutions to San Francisco. There’s an unheard silent majority boiling under the surface, that is about to make some serious noise. We're not going to accept the insanity anymore - we're fighting back. It will take some serious work and citizen involvement to turn things around.
